Rich, hearty and packed with flavour, this classic bolognese is everything you want in a pasta night hero. Slow-simmered with beef, tomatoes, garlic and herbs, it’s the kind of meal that makes the whole house smell amazing.

Ingredients
- 1 kg beef mince
- 1 large onion
- 1 tbsp finely chopped garlic
- 2 carrots, grated
- 1 zucchini, grated
- 6 mushrooms, grated
-
3 cans chopped tomatoes (we used a mix of chopped and sieved)
- 150g tomato paste
- 3 tbsp Blow My Coals
- 2 tbsp Italian Stallion
- 1 tsp Man Grind Salt Flakes
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 2 cups beef stock
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
- G-Banger (sprinkle on serving)
Directions
Heat a drizzle of olive oil in a large cast iron pot (we used a 4L) over medium-high heat.
Add the mince and brown for about 10 minutes, breaking it up and cooking off any excess liquid.
- While that’s cooking, finely dice the garlic, onion and grate the zucchini, carrot, and mushrooms (or finely dice the mushrooms if you prefer).
Once the mince is browned, add the onion and garlic. Cook for 2 minutes. Preheat the oven to 160°C fan bake.
- Add the grated veggies and stir through.
- Add tomato paste, Blow My Coals, and Italian Stallion. Stir and cook for 1 minute.
- Pour in canned tomatoes, stock, Man Grind Salt Flakes, sugar, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix well and bring to a simmer.
- Transfer to the oven, uncovered, and fan bake at 160°C for 2 hours, giving it a stir once or twice if you can.
- You’ll end up with a rich, thick sauce. Add a splash of water or stock if it needs loosening—we added 1 cup after cooking.
- Taste, season, and serve. Sprinkle with our G-Banger Cheesy Garlic Butter Seasoning for that perfect finishing touch.
