You sometimes have to have these funny wee bites to make a scene more purposely festive and this pastry pull-apart is a great way to do so. It’s a fun one to make with the kids too!
Ingredients
2 sheets puff pastry
¼ cup Balls of Fire fireball apple relish
1 egg yolk beaten with 1 tablespoon milk
Rosemary, to garnish (optional)
Directions
Preheat the oven to 190ºC fan bake. Line a baking tray with baking paper.
Unfold one sheet of puff pastry on top of the baking paper and spread the Balls of Fire all over.
Unfold the second sheet of puff pastry and place on top of the first sheet of puff pastry. Press gently to seal the two sheets together.
Cut out the puff pastry in the shape of a Christmas tree. Reserve the extra pieces.
Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, cut slits on both sides of the tree, spacing them about 1.5cm about, leaving the centre intact.
Then, twist each strip of pastry two or three times, pressing the ends into the baking sheet. Repeat with the puff pastry leftovers and place on a different baking sheet.
Brush the pastry with the egg wash.
Bake for 25–30 minutes, until golden.
Allow to cool slightly, garnish with rosemary, if using, and enjoy!
