Pizza Sliders

A delicious hit of all the pizza flavours in one mouthful. The perfect savoury snack to take as a plate or for an easy dinner.

Ingredients

Pizza Sauce
4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 tbsp Italian Stallion
1/2 tsp Man Grind
1/2 tsp sugar
1 cup passata
1/2 tbsp olive oil

Roll Fillings
1 dozen dinner rolls (leave them connected)
12 slices salami (the salami I used was quite large in diameter so I only needed 12 pieces to cover the whole slab of rolls. If you are using smaller pieces of salami, you will need enough to cover the slab of rolls).
1/4 red onion
1 1/2 cups mozzarella cheese, grated
1 ball fresh mozzarella, sliced into rounds
2 tbsp butter, softened
1 tbsp Italian parsley, chopped
pinch chilli flakes *optional
fresh basil, chopped

Instructions

To Make the Pizza Sauce:

In a small pot add your olive oil and half of the garlic and cook until fragrant. Don't let it brown. Add the rest of the pizza sauce ingredients and bring to a simmer. Allow to simmer for a couple of minutes then remove from the heat and set aside.

Assembling the Rolls:

1:

Cut the rolls in half horizontally. Try and keep them attached and in a slab so they're easier to work with. Place the bottom half of the rolls on a lined baking tray.

2:

Take half of the pizza sauce and spread onto the bottom half of the rolls. Make sure you spread it right to the edge of all the rolls.

3:

Add half of your mozzarella and spread to the edges. Place the salami on top of the cheese, ensuring the whole slab is covered. Now add the red onion, sliced fresh mozzarella and the pinch of chilli flakes if you're using. Finish off with another layer of grated mozzarella.

4:

Take the top slab of buns and spread the remaining pizza sauce on here then place on top of your topped bottom slab.

5:

Take your softened butter, remaining garlic and Italian parsley and mix. Using a pastry brush, spread half of this this mixture on to the top of the buns. Cover well with foil and place into the oven for 15 minutes. Remove from the oven, uncover and spread again with the remainder of the garlic butter mix, replace the foil and place back into the oven for another 15 minutes or until the cheese has completely melted.

6:

Cut the sliders into their individual, pre-marked size, place on a serving board or platter and sprinkle with a generous amount of fresh basil. Serve fresh out the oven.

Recipe Notes

These sliders are so versatile, swap out the salami for any pizza toppings you love.
